Parks and Facilities
Cincinnati is served by a robust system of parks and recreation facilities overseen jointly by Cincinnati Parks / Cincinnati Park Board and the Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC). The city maintains a green network that includes regional parks, neighborhood parks, nature preserves, trails, recreation centers, aquatic centers, and sports fields. CRC handles the programming, recreation centers, pools, athletic fields, and community services. Together, they manage hundreds of park properties, natural areas, and facilities throughout the city.
Within city limits, Cincinnati Parks comprises 5 regional parks, about 70 neighborhood parks, and 34 natural areas. Many parks include amenities such as walking paths, playgrounds, sports courts, picnic shelters, scenic overlooks, and nature centers. CRC operates 23 recreation centers, 33 aquatic facilities, 6 golf courses, and a wide network of athletic fields and playgrounds.
Cincinnati is also part of the Hamilton County “Great Parks” system, which covers green spaces and nature preserves around the region, expanding recreational opportunities beyond city limits.
The parks system in Cincinnati is well distributed: a large percentage of residents live within walking distance of a park. The city continually activates parks with events, wellness classes, and nature programs, and maintains trails and open space corridors.
